I want to give my students a safe and fun environment for them to explore and learn while having fun. Some of my students have never been around other children their own age due to COVID. They lack the social skills and have not been exposed to learning by play. When they work together in centers, I can see their creativity and willingness to help one another out. The students are eager to try new things out and I hope that I can supply them with some new learning materials to spark their imagination and help them to learn. My goal is to encourage my students to learn to socialize and learn through playing in centers. To do this I plan to create new centers in the classroom to encourage learning, social skills, and motor skill building. The Magnatiles and Bristle Blocks will make new centers in my classroom to encourage my students to learn their numbers by counting and recognizing quantities when tying a number to them. The bristle builders are to help with fine motor skills. Both of these will help them learn and increase their motor skill while being creative and active. The tree house, furniture, and people will give my students a place to practice social skills which is extremely important during the COVID pandemic. It can help encourage them to learn to express their feelings and learn to play with other students. The new centers with these games and manipulatives can encourage critical thinking to help them recognize numbers and quantities, recognize the letters of alphabets, as well as the sounds of each letter while engaging with the teacher and other students. The new resources will help my students obtain skills to help them advance socially and academically.
