As a result of the pandemic and virtual learning, students have spent less time reading and being read to. To increase motivation to read, our school uses a reading program which provides quizzes over a wide variety of books. When students finish reading a book, they take a quiz over that book and are awarded points according to the number of questions they have answered correctly. Point clubs have been set up and small prizes are awarded when students reach these clubs. As an incentive and to increase participation in the program, I am planning a ceremony to be held at the end of the school year to recognize and celebrate students' achievements in reading. I am planning to award bigger prizes at this time, but due to a lack of funds and donors, I am needing help with purchasing them.
