My project encompasses several academic areas. Since my students love social studies and science, I would like to have more hands-on materials for them to use in the classroom. I’m requesting large-sized jigsaw maps of the world and the United States so they can develop their geography skills while working with others in a small group, as well as blank dry-erase maps for students to label. I would also like to purchase a class set of the novel, I survived the American Revolution, 1776, so my students will have the opportunity to combine working in a small literary group with learning about history. My students gather at our horseshoe-shaped reading table for small group work. Currently, they have to carry their chair from their desk to the table due to a shortage of student chairs in our school. I would like have the 5 stackable chairs to use around our reading table so students wouldn't have to carry their chair around the room every time we rotate our centers. I would like to use the Science Experiment Kits in the classroom throughout the school year. By purchasing six kits, my students would be able to develop a hypothesis and explore the science concepts in small groups.
