With my students, COVID has been a burden on them in their learning and social skills. My art class is a safe place. I have created a place where students can be themselves while creating art that helps them through emotional issues they may be going through. COVID has made it more challenging for them. Students have gotten in the habit of being quieter, connected to their phone/device, and forgetting that there is a room full of peers that are going through the same things they are going through. My students need more time to have things explained to them due to the gap in missing school in person. I want to continue to fight for my students, To help them overcome this obstacle in their life that we are all going through. It just looks different for them than their teachers. Having different tools in class to get them excited to learn and express themselves is always on the top of my list.
