Research shows that students are much more engaged in a high school setting when they can stand and talk. The portable white boards can be used by this teacher to allow students to collaborate and discuss the details of real-world problems. Immediate assessment of student understanding will be visible not only to the teacher but to other students, who can then use the thinking of others to expand their own thinking. It will also make gaps of knowledge more accessible when students are given a chance to peer review their work. Support of ways to encourage critical thinking in the classroom will support student achievement, allowing for student success.
