Using the concept of concrete-representational-abstract pedagogy, these manipulatives will help students represent a concrete visual they can create and manipulate to represent topics of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. This knowledge translates into number sense and number fluency which students need in order to be successful for continued growth and deeper knowledge in mathematics. Students must be able to "see" the mathematics to make sense of the concepts. Using manipulatives allows students to "see" what is occurring and to create a deeper knowledge in place value, the base 10 number system, and grouping/regrouping of numbers.

About my class
