The items from this project will be used in a special education classroom with elementary students who have a wide range of abilities and needs. Decodable readers and fun activities that are based on the phonics skills they are working on in class will help those skills stick and transfer to other places in their life and education. Using science-based materials like decodable readers and phonics games to educate my students is very important to me. My students are a part of the 40% who need explicit instruction in the rules of the English language and with these materials, I will be able to provide that to them. We also go through a lot of supplies like highlights to highlight our spelling patterns in text, erasers when we are writing on dry erase board, and anchor paper to make anchor charts about all the fun things we are learning.
