Personal headphones will allow students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times they choose a location in the classroom that works for them and work on their assignments on their computers. Currently my students are working on a variety of website in such as Moby Max, Canvas, or Typing.com. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given an opportunity to work at their own pace with their accommodations that are specific to them. Supplies like markers, pencils, post-its (aka sticky notes), and scrapbooking tape help give our students the opportunity to expand the way they learn and give them different strategies to retain information. File folders are used in our classroom to help our students to remain organized and help them with their independent goals. They almost always make good choices about their pace, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are able to enrich their experiences.
