Due to Covid-19, our students struggle more now than in the past with making social connections, regulating emotions, and choosing a growth mindset. We work with all students in our school with different social-emotional learning projects to help each of us connect. We use a variety of tools for our SEL programs at our school. The project I would like funded with donors chosen is to enhance our chill room. We would like to add better furniture and calming tools for students in our chill room to help students take a moment in a calm space to regulate their emotions. We will use the furniture to help the students feel more comfortable in the space. The desk and chair are for the adult aide in the room, the bookshelf will store the fidget and calming manipulatives, the curtains and rug will make the room feel more like home, and the other décor will help it be more attractive. The students will benefit from these items in the Chill Room because they will have a greater desire to use the room when they feel out of control and need to take a few minutes to calm down in a comfortable setting.
