Many students who receive special education services are lacking emotional regulation skills...and let's face it- times are just hard! It is more important now than ever to make sure children are learning functional coping skills. Students with these struggles need quick, calming breaks built into their school day in order for them to reset and continue with non-preferred activities. Great breaks get pricey! It can be difficult to keep break activities fresh, fun and motivating to earn. So many of these students are gifted in ways that don't show up on their work in the regular classroom setting. How much fun will they have creating a masterpiece of their own in a calm, germ free setting? :)
