The materials we are looking to get into our classroom will help our many students with sensory processing disorder. First and foremost it will create a space where they can regulate when overstimulated. As well it will give them an opportunity to explore new sensory experiences. Sensory play is important because it helps children with disabilities learn to live a fuller and happier life. Most of our learning comes through our ability to use our senses to retain information. Sensory play is not just about having fun for the students in my classroom. It is an opportunity to learn, retain information and develop the skills needed to regulate their emotions.
