Kids don't learn when physical needs aren't met. I have a self-funded snack drawer that they are welcome to, but restocking it out of my own pocket bi-monthly is getting to be expensive. With these supplies, not only will students be able to meet their own basic needs. it will be a community-building experience. Students already know that they can come to talk to me about anything whenever, but the promise and comfort of food will allow them to build relationships with me, but also each other. My plan is that this community food stock will allow them to grab a snack when they need it, but also engage with me and other students in my classes that they may not have interacted with otherwise.
