I have requested fidgets to help students with anxiety in my classroom. Many students are better able to focus if they have something to fidget with. Throughout Covid I have noticed the amount of students struggling with anxiety increase. This will be a great resource for those kids. I also requested 6 boxes of the game "Charty Party". This is a fun game that gets kids engaged while learning about graphs. I plan to use this has a supplemental activity for students at the end of class, or after a quiz as a game that kids enjoy, but are still learning from. This will be especially helpful after Covid has hindered student learning. Any chance to increase engagement and get students excited will make the learning stick better for students. The final group of materials I requested are all for student enrichment projects. This year I have assigned students an extra enrichment project per unit. This has been a great way for students to see applications of what they are learning. Students have had to take their mathematical knowledge and produce projects, such as a drawing made of only straight lines for our unit on linear relationships. Students had to not only draw an image, but they also had to find the equation of each line, the domain, the range, and the slope. These projects have greatly helped to increase student participation in math. This is so important during this time of Covid, as many students have struggled with keeping up in math classes.
