I am both a secondary Special Education and English teacher at DSHS in Davis, California. I recently received a grant to create a library for our Learning Resource Center and obtained about 150 books. But there are never enough books! This honor library (self-checkout) will help students feel included, safe, and seen. I am seeking books that are of high interest and middle-high school ability. Areas include fiction, nonfiction, poetry, mental health, anthologies, addiction, disabilities, and life/career skills. Our population is predominantly Latinx and African American, but I am trying to create a diverse library where students see themselves reflected on the shelves. My goal is to supplement the slowly evolving literary canon that our school is developing. Thank you for your consideration and donation!
