My school is whole school title 1 due to having 98% free and reduced lunch. We have a large hispanic population in which most of their parents do not speak English therefore they are not able to help their child with school work. Due to our large low economic population most student's parents have never exposed them to the world of reading. The struggles these parents face both finacially and culturally prevent them from being exposed to world of reading. When my students are given the opportunity to explore books and research the internet for projects in the classroom you would think that they had been given a key to a magical place. They love learning and being at school. My students may not have much and they may not have had many educational opportunities as a child but when they enter our school our goal is to teach every child where they are and to take them as far as we can.
