The books chosen will help students relate to people who look like them, share similar experiences, and open their world up to endless possibilities. Students will select these books to read for enjoyment and to help increase Literacy in first and second Grade during their Drop Everything and Read Time. This is a 45-minute block of time used specifically to help students develop a passion for reading and help with the learning loss experienced during the pandemic. Additionally, these books will help students read large passages when they are assessed and help fulfill the requirements needed to be promoted to the next grade level.
