Creating opportunities for students to become truly engaged in learning in a hands-on, self-directed way is a priority in our classroom. Every area of our classroom presents an invitation to play and learn. We would love to add another interest area that would be multifunctional and engaging. Engagement through hands on exploration promotes communication which is a high area of need in our classroom. The materials chosen will be used to encourage students to practice sustained attention, fine motor skills, explore light, shapes, sorting, capacity as well as other basic math and literacy skills. This center will also offer students the opportunity to practice cooperative play skills and self-regulation skills which are high indicators for success in the kindergarten classroom.
