In my classroom, my students earn points based on their behavior and participation during small group instruction, whole group instruction and as they transition from classroom to classroom. At the end of the day, students turn their points in for 15 minutes of free time. The items purchased will help motivate them, to earn the needed points. By having them earn points for free time, it allows students to choose how they are going to be acting during class time. For example, I have one student who has a hard time following instructions. When he sees his classmates earning points for follow instructions he will make a good choice and follow directions so he can earn points. Having these items will help me to grow my free time activities. I can watch them use their creativity, teach them to follow directions when playing a game and also learn social skills which is hard for many of my students. All this can be accomplished just be allowing them to earn 15 minutes of free time each day.
