Students with special needs often get overstimulated in all learning environments and need a safe space to deescalate. The products that I have chosen for the sensory space will allow them to self-regulate, deescalate, and meet their sensory needs when having an emotional outburst. Children with autism tend to regulate themselves by rocking back and forth. The calming lights will help them to realign themselves in a positive way. The sensory path can provide the children with activities that allow them to get their excess energy out while also working on balance, coordination, and other gross motor needs.
