These building materials will make a difference in my students' learning through creative play and using these materials to tie into reading and writing. Students will be able to use these materials to build things we discuss in our literacy block, then write about what they have created. Students will focus on being descriptive and use the skills we are practicing in our literacy lessons daily. Students will be given a set amount of time to explore and create a story using their materials. Once the time is over students will verbally share their stories to the class, then go and write their stories in their writing journals. Allowing time for play and sharing before being asked to write often inspires students creativity as well as learning from peers through sharing their stories.
