Decodable books will help my student's literacy and language skills. These are books based on phonics patterns which become progressively more challenging as readers continue learning new skills. The word difficulty increases as students master phonic skills. Using decodable text is an excellent opportunity for students to transfer their new learning into authentic reading. My students need decodable texts to take home so they can practice effective reading strategies and become successful readers! Our classroom library is currently outdated with leveled books. Leveled texts rely on picture clue and background knowledge with difficult to sound out words. With these decodable readers, students will feel more confident in their own reading skills and will be more interested in reading on their own!
