I have more students than cameras and computers in my Digital Photography class. Several of the cameras I do have are outdated and are too old to fix. These new cameras would allow more students experience with current industry standard technology. Photography is an impactful tool for students who feel marginalized and unseen to be visible to the outside world. Students are able and encouraged to take the cameras home, and often when they do, they collaborate with family and friends to create and document personal experiences. We have class discussions about how powerful photography can be in fighting racism and intolerance, and to contextualize and process world events.
