My 27 third graders need hands on materials for math and more books with characters that look like them and celebrate who they are! The math manipulatives would help students understand multiplication, a concept just starting to be taught to them in third grade. Currently we have very few hands on resources for math. Modeling multiplication, playing games, and interacting with math will encourge students to get involved in their education. As a teacher in an urban and diverse setting, I need more books in my classroom library with characters of color. This is very important for students to see themselves and feel celebrated.
