I will be offering a chess club for students during their lunch. This allows children to meet other students who they might never had the courage to approach. Chess is a thinking game. "Someone who is five can play someone who is 105. A child that is disabled can play someone who is the star athlete of the school. A child that may be the shyest or the smallest child in class - could be the best.” "Chess is cheap, so it can bridge the gap between children who might be economically disadvantaged." Students learn social behavior attributes such as shaking hands at the beginning of matches as well as shaking hands to concede defeat. Children learn that they have to take responsibility for their actions. Chess is a universal game that is played the same way every where in the world.
