I teach at a low income school with students that come from very low income community. These items that will help the students feel comfortable in the classroom. I am trying to support Social Emotional Learning so students feel safe in the classroom, which in result, will help them learn more. Due to Covid , lots of students do not want to be back in the classroom, and would rather be at home. I am trying to create a classroom like has the home like feeling for those students. These items would help reach that goal. When I am teaching I like to keep the students moving from their desks to the carpet. The carpet would help make it more comfortable to sit on the floor ! Along with the comfortable chairs for the floor learning. The magnetic shelves will help show the students what we are learning about and the books we are about to read! We have lack of shelving options and this would be helpful. We also have students that struggle with holding a pencil the correct way, so the grips will benefit my students writing abilities. Having the social studies posters will help the students recall information that we are learning. Social Emotional Learning, Social Awareness, 3.B. Demonstrate an awareness of cultural factors and respect for individual differences.
