Each student will receive a copy of The One and Only Ivan to take home (We are an online school). As a class, we will read the story together (practicing our fluency). Periodically, we will stop to discuss confusing/challenging words (vocabulary practice), author's point of view, narrative nonfiction elements, opinion vs fact, connections to history, predictions and reactions to the text, strategies to organize information (graphic organizers), and strategies to visualize the meaning of the text! I'm hoping to start this project in January or February and my students are so excited!

About my class
