These books will provide my second language learners an immersion in the English language while providing a variety of text structure, content, and worlds beyond what they have experienced. I meet with students in small groups to read books and dissect the authors' styles. We also analyze character development, the semantics of sentence structure, and the impact that has on the audiences' view of the story. I will use these books to develop an understanding of how language is used to enthrall an audience while impacting their emotions and even future aspirations. Students will take these books home nightly to read and then return to school to discuss their perspectives, developing an understanding of their perspectives and why they perceive the world in the way that they do.
