Our library is severely underfunded, and I would like to add to our graphic novel collection with your help. The current library collection consists of less than 350 graphic novels, approximately 1% of the entire library inventory, but it is the most popular category with our students, especially those in third, fourth and fifth grade. Usually students must wait several weeks before they get an opportunity to check out a graphic novel due to the lack of inventory in our library. When a student has a long wait to check out a book, especially reluctant readers, there is the potential of losing enthusiasm for the reading material. Our school librarian has created a list of dynamic graphic novels I would like to purchase for our library if given the funds by Nevada’s DonorChoose funds. The graphic novels selected are listed on several “best of” lists for reluctant readers, cultural inclusiveness, and popularity. This infusion of new and exciting titles would be welcomed by our students, help them to become better readers, and would support their overall educational success. Thank you for your consideration.
