Many of our students come to us with different "abilities" as well as mental health conditions. These materials will be used to help us teach them social- emotional strategies and goals as well as help them prepare for the future, something they didn't think was possible before coming to our school. For many of them it is their last chance at successfully graduating high school. Also, by coming to our school they will walk out with a certificate in an area of expertise and often go right to work once they have graduated. Many of them have anxieties that create distractions in the classroom. Fidget toys are a great way to keep the student occupied yet engaged. The computer will be used to help my students look for work, scholarships, colleges and resources they may need as they come closer to graduating. The computer is also a great way to teach social-emotional skills through various resources on the internet. All the materials will help the students to become the best version of themselves.
