On August 29, 2021, our community of St. Charles Parish was hit hard by Hurricane Ida. My school in particular, DHS, was severely damaged resulting in our current platooning situation with the other high school in the district. We have been displaced from our art studio and have shown up empty handed to our new studio. I have not been allowed to enter my classroom to retrieve projects or materials nor do I know the condition of these items. Our future as an art studio remains unclear whether we return to our own campus or not. We may return and be put into a portable for temporary housing or may be platooning longer than we hoped. Our students are dealing with losses at home and now in their comfort zone, our art studio. Your donation will help provide my Talented Art students with a sense of normalcy and allow them to do what they do best, create! These materials are what they are used to having in our art room.
