My fifth grade students are enthusiastic learners. Many of them are working below grade level in reading and mathematics, as well as facing the challenges of being English learners in a socioeconomically disadvantaged community. There are also a few students with special needs in my classroom. All of the students at the school receive free lunch. The parents, who want their best for their children, cannot afford to give these students the school supplies that they need. Unfortunately due to budget cuts, the school can only provide the bare minimum for my students. The children need supplies and so much more to help them improve and be ready for middle school.
