Many of our students in school are unmotivated. They are unmotivated to come to school, unmotivated to do well in class, and unmotivated to go beyond any sort of expectation. Many of these students that I am referencing are students who don't play your typical school sports. In our very small, urban school, if you don't play sports, there's not much else to do. By creating a gaming corner for my students that are not involved in sports, I will be opening up a huge opportunity for all of my students! Let's face it, many students go home and play video games. Why not encourage them to play with friends at school, enhance their skills, engage in social and emotional learning and provide incredible motivation to come to school? The new gaming monitor that will sit on the new desk will be a perfect addition and focal point in our gaming corner for us to gather, watch instructional videos, and gain motivation! The tablet will be used by students to screen cast various games and activities to engage in community play. This is an amazing opportunity for these students to find value in themselves and each other, grow as individuals, and become leaders within the school. We won't be able to start this gaming corner without your support, so I'd really appreciate your thoughtful consideration for affording us this opportunity!
