Over the past two years our students have shown great resilience through distance learning, hybrid models, and back to in person learning. At some points students were only receiving live instruction during half of their day when we were transitioning back to in person. Some students are in need of small group intervention in order to bridge the achievement gap from distance learning. As an instructional coach I oversee our intervention program for kindergarten to second grade reading and math. I will be able to have more engaging groups and provide resources for my interventionists to use when working with small groups. Students will work in small, targeted, engaging groups that focus on their learning deficits. Most of these tools will serve a dual purpose and help with instruction for students to build their number sense, letter/sound identification, phonemic awareness, fluency, and comprehension skills. (I.E. Osmo little genius, dry erase boards, dry erase pockets, pens/markers, write on dice, double sided counters, post-its, sheet cake pans for the magnetic manipulatives, and chart tablet). Other tools are math or reading specific. (I.E. Fluency comprehension scripts, decoding flash cards, magnetic letters, magnetic ten frames, ten frame dice, place value blocks, lunchbox letters for phonics games, tap and write cvc words). These standards are a just a small example of the skills students will be explicitly taught in small groups. The literacy materials listed will assist students to meet grade level standards under the Read by Grade 3 requirements. K.CC.A.1 Count to 100 by ones and by tens. 1.NBT.b2, Understand that the two digits of a two-digit number represent amounts of tens and ones. RF.K.2.D Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes) in three-phoneme (consonant-vowel-consonant, or CVC) words. RF.1.3 Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding
