My students are eager to dive into the fiction section in our creative writing course. I am looking for texts that are far outside the realm of standard expectations in high school literature. I want to challenge them and also bring social-emotional awareness to my classroom culture. Help me inspire my students to reach beyond their assumed roles in life, and instead, grasp their goals! My students will be reading both in class, and out of class. I want them to have physical copies so that they can feel the texture of the book, know the excitement of turning a page anticipating the next word, and have freedom to mark up and notate what is important to them.
