Creating: Conceiving and developing new artistic ideas and work. I am trying to engage my students as much as possible this year because COVID has robbed them of being able to express feelings and emotions for long enough. Currently, I spend a lot of time getting my students interested in art. They have not had an art teacher and the subs that they put in place were not encouraging the students' creativity. Now my job has been mostly to repair the damage done. I work hard to get my students to see that they are all beginners and do not have to be Picasso in 5th Grade. They have time to experiment and learn their own individual style without fear of failing or getting a bad grade because they didn't make something worthy to the teacher. For many years now the only art my students have been allowed to do in this art class was crayons and paper. Students are finally excited about art and I am eager to introduce mediums they have never heard of let alone been able to touch and create with. These supplies would open new worlds and new opportunities for my students. Thank you!
