I teach at a rural, public elementary school in Georgia. I am a 5th grade Reading and English teacher. Currently, I have three different classes with a total of 80 students. Like most classroom, the students' abilities range from well below grade level to well above grade level. Most of my students come from low income families or poverty stricken families. Many of them also come from single parent homes or their grandparents are their primary care givers. Although they have many strikes already against them, they work hard in my classroom everyday. I use many different strategies to help improve their academics. I do this because I have a range of many different types of learners in my classroom. Because of many different types of learners I have in my classroom, I present each lesson/skill using a variety of different strategies.
