Many students have trouble sitting still or comfortably in a traditional hard plastic chair. This can make coming to class less exciting for some of them, or even make it hard for them to concentrate on their work. By giving the students more options for seating, we are putting the responsibility on them to choose what will help them to learn best. We are telling them that we trust them to know what they need to learn. The new chairs may look like fun, but once the new wears off, they will know that the movement allowed in the chairs is a tool to help their brain focus.
