The sensory room I have planned will be a safe space for students to experience their feelings while also learning strategies and how to use specific tools that will help them have control over their emotions. The sensory room will give them the tools to learn to regulate their emotions, calm themselves when escalated, handle stressful or unexpected situations and find success in and out of the classroom. As educators, we do our best to walk students through emotional experiences, but we lack the benefits that a sensory room would provide in that emotional education. This sensory room would not only provide our students with a safe place, but would provide all of our teachers with tools to help them continue to reach our students in all areas of need.
