My students live on a border town between Mexico and the United States. We are located in a very low income area: many children living with grandparents or other family members while their parents follow the crops. All are on the free breakfast and lunch program. For some these are the only meals they eat a day. We are trying to offer hope to these children through our public school. Hope that is hard for some of these children to see. Through our summer school program we will expose them to a different culture and take them to an African Wild Animal Park to inspire art, writing and reading.
