I love having games and interactive reinforcement activities in speech therapy so that my students are engaged and enjoy working on their speech and language skills. It is important to me that they feel the progress they are making but also have fun in the process. That is why I need your help to make speech therapy exciting and something my students will look forward to each week! Speech therapy is so important for students and their academic success, but it needs to be fun and engaging! With the use of the Lakeshore Alphabet Sounds Teaching Tubs and learning resources Alphabet Acorns, I can play hide and seek games with the objects, I could have the students sort for their target sound, or I could use these as a way for students to target sounds in sentences. These mini objects would also be a great way to work on language skills such as describing, attributes, comparing/contrasting, and more! The Jumping Jack and Dino Meal games would be used in speech therapy as a reinforcement to get my students to want to engage more in therapy. If they know they are working hard in order to take turns playing a game, it makes them more excited. My students with augmentative and alternative communication, such as communication devices, would love to have a tangible item when they are learning new vocabulary. With the Learning Resources Hide-n-Go Moo Barn, I could model many of their core words. Teachers Pay Teachers is a great place to find resources for informal speech and language assessments and even parent handouts. I truly believe that children learn best when they take pride in what they do and have fun. Speech therapy can help shape a child's life and confidence. With your help, they can achieve that!
