All of our ELA classrooms encourage kids to read books of choice. Being the only EL teacher at my middle school and serving all grades, I’d really like to contribute to the selection so that kids I serve AND their peers get a chance to delve into some literature that represents someone they’re not used to reading about. We know how much books we see ourselves in draw us in-this will allow us to reach so many more kids in literature spurring on a rekindled (or first time) interest in reading and writing. Kids without these diverse backgrounds will be afforded the incredible opportunity to learn about them!

About my class
