These books will continue to enhance the reading and writing abilities of my students. Through these books, the students will be able to see and hear from authors young and old that share in some of their same experiences. So often students lack enthusiasm about reading because they can not make a text to self connection with the read alouds or book selections. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy - I read on the carpet to them, they complete work there, and they read independently! Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and my students are thankful for the opportunities to read. The more they read, the more their personal writing grows. Exposure is key and with this wide selection of books, we will be headed in the right direction! All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. I have watched them the past few weeks of school read titles just like these, and I have also asked them what type of books they would enjoy reading. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.
