Having these jump ropes available for my scholars will further my impact as a teacher on these scholars. I've noticed that many of my scholars really struggle with cardiovascular endurance, a fitness component, which seems to be common among scholars today in this generation. I'm very concerned at what I'm seeing because in class they struggle in the warm-ups with just running to the fence and back in the park, which is only maybe 50 yards. They are even consistently out of breath as I watch them walk up and down the stairs in the school building. Having the necessary jump ropes will not only improve their cardiovascular endurance levels, but if I can get them confident and competent in their skills in jumping rope, they will be more likely to want to continue to use jump ropes as a means to have a fun workout. With the routines I will show them they will be more likely to want to use jump ropes as not only a way to improve their fitness levels, but also as a way to socialize with friends and maybe start jump rope clubs. This will be supported in student learning outcome E.A.1.14.B, students will "create a long or short jump rope routine with a partner or a group." We plan to support our community to participating in Jump Rope for Heart.
