These materials will support deeper learning opportunities for my students. Our high school building was shut down last Fall due to PCBs found present. We are now teaching in an old Macy’s building. The building is comprised of white semi-permanent white walls which in many areas do not reach the ceiling. It is a sterile environment. We are asking for items to make our current classroom feel like our home for the next 3 years. LINK students currently have no projector and have been placed on a waiting list. The students really want a projector so we are able to do Kahoots and have. access to visual aids. Currently, I am printing slideshow announcements and reading them to them. The students have requested the use of a microwave and refrigerator because they eat lunch in the classroom and would like to be able to keep their food cold and warm it up. There have been high incidents of food theft in the shared refrigerator at one of the shelters. We also are asking for some books for our library and Van Gogh paintings for our walls. There are no windows in the building and we are trying to bring in glimpses of nature.
