These reading materials, magazines, and diverse novels will be used to not only help improve reading comprehension, but increase their self- esteem level. Novels will be used for independent, partner, and small group reading and class discussions. The scholastic magazines will provide online an offline opportunities to respond to literature, learn about cultures of others and connect with who they are within the world. Having quality diverse literacy and novels in our classroom will nurture growth and development of each students' personality and social skills. Students will use these novels to participate in classroom activities such as evaluating and analyzing literature while summarizing and forming hypotheses about various topics. My purpose as an educator is to not only provide quality education and critical thinking skills to my students, but to also help students develop emotional intelligence. High quality diverse children literature will help to encourage students to have empathy, connect with characters from different cultural backgrounds, and think deeper about their own feelings.
