Technology is a big part of my classroom. Each student has their own iPad for reading, creating, and learning. Our district provides a wide variety of instructional apps for classroom use, and many are effective. Most of my first grade students enjoy using their iPads, but would rather spend their time learning with a more hands-on approach. The Osmo will give them a learning experience that combines technology and the use of manipulatives. With the Osmo, I can also pair students to work cooperatively, and give support to each other when needed. I know that when students are working together, the experience can be powerful for both students. I watch some of my best teaching through my students helping each other.
