The math materials will be used to provide differentiated place value, fraction, and decimal instruction to all students in my fifth-grade class while building a concrete & hands-on foundational skillset necessary to access math in middle school and beyond. The math manipulatives will be used in a variety of ways to meet the diverse needs of the students in my fifth-grade classroom. Some students will access the hands-on materials to help close gaps in their mathematical understanding, while others will use the materials to extend their learning and challenge themselves to think about math on a higher level. Both types of experiences will help lay a strong conceptual understanding of fractions, decimals, and place value while engaging students and meeting their math needs.
