By reading a historical fiction novel, my students will be able to see the world from another culture's perspective, while relating to some of the injustices that are still happening today in many of my own students' lives. Students will learn both about the impact that the bombing of Pearl Harbor had on Japanese-Americans lives and Japanese culture. Students will discuss other incidents of injustices throughout both history and the present day. From the first page, the reader is drawn into this world and feels the experiences as if they were living it themselves.
