I work with a variety of students--developmental preschool, life skills class for K-2 grade students, and K-5 students with articulation, language, and fluency challenges. My students are coming back to in-person learning eagerly after a year of remote instruction and are ready to learn hands-on! In the schools, SLPs work to assure that students have the communication skills to access their education. Often, especially for our younger students, I use toys to help engage their interest and give them something exciting to communicate about! My philosophy is to "inspire and not require" communication. My kids also LOVE Pete the Cat, and I'm always working to find engaging books for them! Additionally, I often make visuals to support my students that are minimally verbal or non-verbal. The lamination sheets, colored printer ink, and velcro dots would help immensely to make these materials. I often support class staff by making materials for them as well. In light of COVID, the UV lightbox would help as an additional measure to disinfect my materials to ensure my students' safety. I also like to reward my students for their hard work in speech class! Having a treasure box and toy prizes to earn would be a great motivator! Thank you for your time!
