My students love expanding their musical knowledge by using technology to access online music games and culturally relevant songs. These games will sharpen their skills in reading notes and musical concepts like disjunct/conjunct melodies. This will in turn help them to create music using the reinforcement of musical notes. They will also look up culturally relevant songs like "Change the World" by Eric Clapton to give them inspiration. They take their new found knowledge and create Music projects that include melodies and songwriting based on culturally relevant topics in the African American and Hispanic committee in student groups. The Rainmakers will be used in creating the songs. The musical games on the tablets will include note recognition, tempo, dynamics and the electronic piano. They will also create a mural of their song using crayons and marker.
